Chapter I

The Studio

the old sewing frames still hang above the basins

For eighty years, 4 Guild Lane stitched and pressed books. Since 2014 it has cut hair instead — same benches, same north light, same conviction that good work is done slowly, by hand, one head at a time.

We keep three chairs, never more. Appointments run long on purpose: every cut starts dry, so we shape what your hair actually does, not what it does wet and flattered. The kettle is always on, and nobody will try to sell you a shelf of product on the way out.

Walk-ins are welcome when a chair sits empty — but like any good library, we mostly run on reservations.

Chapter III

The Hands

June mixes every grey by eye, like letterpress ink

Mara Ostrowski, founder · at the chair since 2009 Cuts like an editor — removing only what the story doesn't need. Ask for her if you live in precision bobs and blunt lines. Request Mara

June Akintola, colourist · at the chair since 2015 Our head of colour. Greys, glosses and corrections mixed in small batches; she will talk you out of a colour that won't grow out kindly. Request June

Theo Marchetti, barber · at the chair since 2018 Textured crops, skin fades and the Saturday straight-razor shave. Keeps the studio's only radio, tuned quietly to jazz. Request Theo
